The Director

Barbara van Rijn is a Dutch young mother, living in Ghana with her family. 'The Cure' is her first documentary, before this she mainly produced corporate videos and TV stories. Whiles working at a community TV station in Cape Coast, a small town along the coast in Ghana, she saw Dr. Duncan advertising his COA drug on TV. In a discussion with the TV stations' manager about the possible effect of COA drug, she was challenged to find out for herself. And that's what she did. A journey that was supposed to be a short item became a journey of several years. Thrown from disbelief into surprises, curiosity and sadness.
From 2012 to 2017 she has been following Dr. Duncan and his patients. In 2018 she finished the final edit.

The documentary is filmed as a one-man-band with no budget.
